Migration Bird Diary: More March Arrivals: Sandhill Cranes, Female Red Winged Blackbirds, Cowbirds Female Red Winged Blackbirds: Many male Red-Winged Blackbirds arrived in early March and now the females have joined the males in their nesting spots in the swamp. Male and Female Sandhill Cranes: One of my favorite birds is the Sandhill Crane. Cranes do nest here in the pastures and some in the same spots as previous years. Male and Female Cowbirds: The cowbirds arrived and do nest here by putting their eggs in other birds nest. Many do not like cowbirds but I respect the creativity and brainpower of the cowbird. While other birds are caring for their young, the cowbirds follow the livestock around eating bugs in a sense is helpful to the animals. Daily Diary: Thankful for More Wonder...

Officially Groundhog Day: The Groundhogs have Awakened in Spring has Sprouted. The Groundhogs Here in Hibernation now Officially Awakened to the Plants are Sprouting. On March 23rd, saw that the groundhogs that live on the yard have awakened. That means it is officially in my mind, it is Groundhog Day. The vegetation on the lawn has started sprouting; it gives them something to nibble on after hibernation. Garden Seeds Planted: The Seeds have Sprouted into Baby Plants. The Shocking Sinkhole Saturday: Wheelbarrowing with Wheelbarrow in Shoveling the Sinkhole. On Saturday, walking in the back of the house then saw a sinkhole on the yard a shocking sight during a summerlike weather day. Then wheelbarrowing the sinkhole shoveling from wheelbarrow to fill the hole because the lawn was too soft for a tractor. It had to be covered for safety reasons and thankful no one fell in because somewhat hidden from sight. The Snowstorm from Last Week the Ground was Soft the Snow was Heavy Snowbanks created Sinkhole. My theory the sinkhole triggered from the blizzard-snowstorm last week.
