Migration Bird Diary: More March Arrivals: Sandhill Cranes, Female Red Winged Blackbirds, Cowbirds Female Red Winged Blackbirds: Many male Red-Winged Blackbirds arrived in early March and now the females have joined the males in their nesting spots in the swamp. Male and Female Sandhill Cranes: One of my favorite birds is the Sandhill Crane. Cranes do nest here in the pastures and some in the same spots as previous years. Male and Female Cowbirds: The cowbirds arrived and do nest here by putting their eggs in other birds nest. Many do not like cowbirds but I respect the creativity and brainpower of the cowbird. While other birds are caring for their young, the cowbirds follow the livestock around eating bugs in a sense is helpful to the animals. Daily Diary: Thankful for More Wonder...
